Glass furnaces belong to high-temperature equipment. Refractory materials in it are subjected to corrosion by gas, liquid and high temperature. Corrosion in the crown may lead to holes and collapse of the glass furnace.

The causes of corrosion in the crown include normal wear and cracks, flame impact, batch and dust erosion in the melting zone and up drilling erosion caused by high pressure in the near the feeding port. 
 
Currently, silica brick is the most common refractory material used in the crown. It has a high softening temperature under load (1650℃). The reaction product after corroded will not change the composition of the glass liquid since it is compatible with molten glass. 
 
The crown of the feeder port is a weak point and easily damaged, since it is subjected to the corrosion of the flame and erosion by the batch materials. Fused cast AZS is used here. 
 
In order to expand the service life of glass furnaces and improve heat exchange, silica bricks in honeycomb shape can be used in the crown and be built into honeycomb shape. It can increase the heat transfer between the heating face of the crown and melting tank, reduce the temperature of the non-heating face, eliminate liquid drops, and reduce the corrosion of the crown foot and breast wall by the high-temperature crown roof. Since there is stagnant gas in the honeycomb structure, it helps to reduce and avoid the erosion of crown roof by flame. 
 
Increasing the volume of the flame space can expand the service life of the glass furnace. If the crow is insulated well, it will not increase the heat loss. Increasing the volume of flame space can improve the combustion efficiency and avoid incomplete combustion of fuel. There will be a layer of low-temperature gas between the flame and the crown which will protect the crown from impact of the flame. The volume of the flame space is measured by the thermal load value. The way to increase the volume of flame space is to increase its width or increase the height of the breast wall.
