The Casting Process Of Fused Cast AZS Block

The process of pouring the melt into the mold after the mixture of raw materials is melt and reaches the criteria of casting is called casting. The casting process of fused cast AZS is complex. Any error may affect the quality and the appearance of the products.

There are four casting methods to manufacture fused cast AZS blocks: Normal casting(PT), Tilt casting(QX), Semi-Void-Free casting(ZWS), and Void-free casting(WS).
The Casting Process Of Fused Cast AZS Block
The process of casting the melt into the mold is very important, since it has a big effect on the quality of the final products. The temperature of the melt, the material of the mold, the length of the casting time, the casting method and the casting properties of the melt (fluidity, shrinkage, tendency to form cracks, casting temperature range, etc.), are the main factors to determine the size, structure and properties of the products.

The casting of AZS is more complex than many metals and other fused cast refractories since it is operated at a very high temperature(1770—1800℃). The viscosity of the melt of fused cast AZS is bigger than that of metal melt, so it has low fluidity. Heating the melt can improve its fluidity and its density. But overheating should be avoided, because it will cause the melt to absorb the gas and produce shrinkage cavity and cracks.

In order to reduce the infiltration of carbon into the body of AZS, air must be fed to furnace to take away combustion products to maintain an oxidizing atmosphere, in order to maintain an oxidizing atmosphere.

The casting speed determines the casting time. Inappropriate casting time will cause defects. If the casting speed is too fast, the mold may be broken and gas and raw materials may be brought into the the melt. Conversely, if the casting speed is too slow, it will produce defects such as loose corners, knots and inadequate casting.

Sunrise offers high quality fused cast AZS block 33#, 36# and 41# made in different casting methods: PT, QX, ZWS and WS.
